GENESIS

While walking through Manhattan’s Chelsea Market several years ago, a line of abstract art depicting metro transit systems stirred my fond memories of time spent in London, Berlin, Chicago, San Francisco, and other cities. I admired how the collection’s minimalist aesthetic elicited an emotional response, which has been my ongoing pursuit throughout a decades-long career in nonprofit work, branding, events, and entertainment.

My lifelong passions for music and graphic design soon inspired a compelling idea: transforming music notation into visual art that, absent sound, stirs the powerful feelings we associate with songs. The collection’s name, Pop Spectrum, reflects its celebration of popular music and the range of eras, genres, colors, and emotions expressed its conceptual framework.

For each piece, the progression of “notes” and creative flourishes combine to form a unique journey. I’m genuinely moved by viewers’ reactions as intrigue and deciphering give way to a nod, a smile—or even a spirited “that’s my song!”—as the melody comes alive in their mind and they recall the people, places, and moments associated with the track.

While the works in my core collection are informed by my own perspective, the possibilities for creating customized pieces and collections that bring personal or shared experiences to life are boundless.
